We were delighted to welcome Callum from RI Cruden to speak about the renewable energy transformation taking place at Boleskine House. In this insightful video, Callum discusses the practicalities of decarbonising a historic building—and how their team has helped us make heritage and sustainability work hand in hand.
From the installation of solar panels to an air source heat pump system, the retrofitting efforts at Boleskine are now offsetting over 28 tonnes of carbon annually—equivalent to driving 93,000 miles in a petrol car. Not only is this helping to cut emissions, it’s also a case study in how historic properties can adopt modern energy solutions without compromising character or conservation values.
Callum also explores the wider benefits of the project, including the creation of skilled green jobs in the Inverness area, and shares his vision for sustainable construction in the Highlands.
