The Founding 300: the Boleskine Library begins

Boleskine House is building a research library devoted to esotericism and Scottish heritage. Our aim is the largest publicly accessible esoteric collection in the UK.

We’ll be honest about where we’re starting. There is no catalogue and no librarian yet. So on Wednesday 21 October we asked for 300 founding members, enough to hire the library’s first librarian.

In the first two days, more than 40 people joined.

We have done this before. We told our members what we would build at the House with their support, and we built it. The library is the next chapter.

What founding members get now

• The Digital Library, with our annual journals online and more added as we digitise
• Their name in the Founding Members’ book
• Scans from the collection as volunteer time allows

What 300 could open

On-site research by appointment, curated events, scans on request, more of the Digital Library and academic talks. These are goals, not promises: each depends on funding.

Join the Founding 300

Library membership is £10 a month or £111 a year. Membership (Full) is £18 a month or £207 a year, and adds the House, with free entry for you and a guest. Both count towards the 300.
