FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INVERNESS, SCOTLAND 28 July 2025The Boleskine House Foundation has successfully completed a major garden restoration project over the weekend, planting 250 traditional heritage plants including Yew spiral trees, period roses, and lavender in new flower beds around the building.
The project creates an authentic historic garden that honours the property’s distinguished past as a Fraser family hunting lodge and later home to notable figures including Aleister Crowley and Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page.
“This garden restoration recreates the authentic atmosphere that would have surrounded Boleskine House during its golden years,” said Keith Readdy, Chair of the Boleskine House Foundation. “The traditional design ensures visitors will experience the property as it was meant to be enjoyed.”
The Foundation extends grateful thanks to the project’s key funders:
- The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, whose support for arts and heritage projects continues to make transformative restorations possible
- National Lottery Heritage Fund, which has been instrumental in the broader Boleskine House restoration with their £250,000 investment, part of which is contributed toward these gardens
- Stanley Smith (UK) Horticultural Trust, supporting this vital green heritage component of the restoration
The garden project comes as the Foundation approaches completion of the comprehensive restoration work, with major construction scheduled to finish on 3 October 2025. The property, which suffered fires in 2015 and 2019, has been meticulously rebuilt using traditional materials and heritage skills.
The Boleskine House Foundation, established as a nonprofit in 2019, is dedicated to preserving this unique piece of Scottish heritage whilst creating opportunities for community engagement and cultural enrichment.
